Refinements made in 2007 to the Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club by the Bates Golf Design Group will enhance the playing experience for competitors in the Barclays Singapore Open and the club’s members.
As the club continues to mould the event into ‘Asia’s Major’ the course has been modified to strengthen it for the professionals and maintain the enjoyment for members for the remaining 51 weeks of the year.
To ensure a consistent playing surface, many areas of the course that were previously prone to foreign grass and weeds have been removed and re-established with pure strains of turf. The three grass types are Tiffeagle on the greens, Paspalum CL 2000 tee boxes and Zoysia fairways.
Ronald Fream, the course’s designer, provided input at the strategic planning stage, and will no doubt applaud moves to fine tune his layout which is playing such an important role in the future of professional golf in the region. |
